Artemisia's Hearth | Winter 2025-26
This is a discount bundle for all three winter myth and writing classes— Golden Thread (November 2025), Bird Woman (January 2026) and Earth Milk (February 2026).
Join Sylvia for a new series of myth and writing workshops through the winter of 2025-2026. Each workshop will begin with Sylvia’s live telling of a fairytale or myth, followed by a short break, and then a series of guided writing exercises in the second hour to walk you deeper into the story’s landscapes, characters and living magic.
GOLDEN THREAD- (November 23rd) This series will open with a telling of the beautiful Scottish fairytale known as “The Stolen Bairn and the Sidh,” a story about a new mother and her journey to win back her baby from the fairies. This is a story about the extraordinary and singular creative power that resides in each of us; a story about the magical strength of threads that are spun and woven and turned into song, and about a mother’s love. It is a story to accompany you through loss, through healing, and through miraculous homecomings.
BIRD WOMAN - (January 18th) In this session, Sylvia will tell one or two Eastern European fairytales about women with white-feathered bird capes, women who return with the spring under their wings and who guard the very old mysteries of the primordial feminine soul. What does it mean to trust in a love that has flown out of our sight?
EARTH MILK - (FEBRUARY 22nd) From the roots of the hazel tree, Cinderella’s mother sends up shining gowns and talking birds. In older versions of Cinderella, her mother speaks to her from the bones under the hearth. In this session, Sylvia will tell a version of Cinderella woven from several very old sources where cows and snakes, hazel trees and doves all offer nourishment to the daughter who can understand their language. What does it mean to allow ourselves to be mothered by the living world?
Upon purchasing this course bundle, you will receive a pdf with Zoom links to all three live class. Recordings will be available to participants for one month after the events.
