Sylvia Victor Linsteadt is a writer, lifelong student of ancient history and myth, and certified wildlife tracker. She studied Literary Arts at Brown University, graduating with Honors in 2011.

Her work—both fiction & non-fiction—is rooted in myth, ecology, feminism & bioregionalism, and is devoted to broadening our human stories to include the voices of the living land.

She is the author of two collections, The Venus Year and Our Lady of the Dark Country, two novels for young readers, The Wild Folk (Nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal in 2019) and The Wild Folk Rising, and the folkloric novel Tatterdemalion with painter Rima Staines.

Her works of nonfiction include The Wonderments of the East Bay , and Lost Worlds of the San Francisco Bay Area, which won the 2018 Northern California Book Award For Best General Non-fiction.

You can read her latest words on The Pollen Basket, her Substack, or comb the archives on her old, much-loved blog, The Indigo Vat. You can also listen to her read her own stories on her podcast, Kalliope's Sanctum

Sylvia divides her time between her pine forest home on Coast Miwok ancestral land on the Point Reyes Peninsula in California where she was born, and Devon, England. She is of Ashkenazi, British, Irish and Northern European descent.
